TANGERINE Confectionery, has signed a licensing deal with soft drinks manufacturer Nichols to produce and market Vimto Bon Bon sweets.
Blackpool-based Tangerine, which is on a growth drive since its buyout by US private equity giant Blackstone last summer, will relaunch the sweets in the UK market.
The new chewy bon bons are softer to eat than traditional versions, fitting well with new market trend for softer eating confectionery, Tangerine says.
The product is made from the secret Vimto recipe and contains real fruit juice,
Helen Hartley, Tangerine's marketing manager said: "The Vimto flavour appeals to all ages and the brand is a firm household name. The product is top quality, so couple this with the well established Vimto brand proposition, the nation’s unabated love for traditional sweet shop confectionery and our proven track record of producing some of Britain’s best loved sweets and we have a winning combination.
“The Vimto name is strongly associated with fruit flavours, providing added appeal to shoppers looking for quality ingredients with maximum taste which Vimto Bon Bons deliver.”
James Nichols, brand licensing manager at Vimto, adds: “Vimto Bon Bons are a much loved product that appeals to children and adults of all ages. We’re thrilled to be adding Tangerine as a licensee for Vimto.”
This deal completes a hat trick of new products for Tangerine this year - it plans to bring back Wham bar and Highland Toffee brands since acquiring them from Millar McCowan’s when it went into administration late last year.
