RWM Food Group acquired by ABP

"Somerset-based beef and lamb processor RWM Food Group has been bought by ABP Food Group for an undisclosed sum."

RWM has processing factories in Langport in Somerset and Yetminster in Dorset. The Dorset plant also includes a retail packing operation.

The processor is made up of a number of companies, which include the contract calf and cattle rearing business Blade Farming Southwest, as well as Southern Counties Fresh Foods – previously one of the largest exporters of cattle meat to Europe.

Tom Kirwan, managing director of ABP UK, said: "This is an important milestone in the development of ABP UK, augmenting its beef supply in the cattle rich South West region of England and giving the business a platform in lamb to further develop its existing lamb processing activity in Northern Ireland."

KPMG was the lead advisor for RWM Food Group during the sale.
