Poultry supplier Rectory Foods get taste for red meat

"A Cheshire food company has taken a leap towards its target of achieving sales of £30m this year with a move into the meat products sector."

Rectory Foods, based at Holmes Chapel, will add around £3m to its turnover with a swoop to buy a majority stake in Acura Foods. Rectory achieved revenues of £26m last year.

Acura, which operates from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, supplies fresh and frozen beef and pork products.

It adds to Rectory's mainstay of supplying poultry, vegetables and other food ingredients to caterers, manufacturers, local authorities, retailers, pubs and wholesalers.

The partnership will be officially launched at next month's Food and Hotel Asia exhibition in Singapore.

Charles Woolley, founder and director of Rectory Foods, said: “This partnership allows us to extend our product portfolio and the natural addition is red meat. Acura Foods' knowledge and expertise will be a valuable asset to us and this, coupled with our own experience and networks, will strengthen our position in the food industry.

“We are planning further growth and expansion in 2010.”
