Olympic Park site 'will benefit purchasing jobs'
by Francis Finch - 25/11/2009
"Purchasing jobs have been boosted by work provided through the construction of the London 2012 London Olympic Park site. "
That is the opinion of Sam Turvey, communications manager at the British Chambers of Commerce, who stated that a number of firms are reaping the benefits.
He remarked: "There is no question that the Olympics is a huge procurement opportunity, particularly for London businesses."
According to Mr Turvey, while small and medium-sized enterprises are also in line to gain from purchasing prospects, firms of this kind could struggle to cope with the demand in terms of resources.
Transport, construction, food and security are all sectors which are currently benefiting from the Games, he added, with the opportunities in the latter particularly prevalent.
Earlier this month, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills told London 2012 Business Summit delegates that there are still over £1 billion worth of contracts for the Olympics and Paralympics available.
