Oliver James triumphs at BFFF Awards

"Oliver James Foods, the UK’s leading sous vide specialist, has triumphed at the prestigious British Frozen Food Federation’s (BFFF) annual Awards with a Gold win in the Best New Main Course/Meal Centre."

Described by the BFFF judging panel as “containing tender chunks of meat with a nice crisp pastry,” the pie is extra deep filled and truly indulgent. Key ingredients such as the hand cut premium British beef and fresh field mushrooms are individually hand weighed into each pie to guarantee every tasty mouthful. Made using traditional artisan techniques, the pies are ‘hand roped’ to present a ‘rustic, home cooked, look and taste. Often described as a ‘casserole encased in a butter rich shortcrust pastry case’, all the pie ingredients are prepared using the sous vide cooking technique for which Oliver James has become renowned. The liquor created during the cooking of the meat is enhanced with British real ale and then used to make the meaty, flavoursome gravy which is used to fill the pie.

The Edward Moon Proper Pie range includes popular options such as Steak and Kidney; Chicken, Leek and Ham Hock; a fish pie filled with natural smoked haddock, King prawns, spinach and a mascarpone cheese sauce. Plus a few surprises such as an unusual Buttered Chicken Balti Pie which is filled with chicken strips in a spicy Balti sauce with a garlic and coriander shortcrust pastry lid - a firm favourite with customers.
