Merger for Findus firms
by James Reed - 24/02/2011
"THE Findus Group is to merge its Young's Seafood, The Seafood Company and Findus UK operations to create Young's Seafood."
Young's Seafood will be the largest supplier of fish and seafood with a turnover of around £600m.
Leedert den Hollander, managing director of the Findus Group UK and Ireland, will be the chief executive of the new company.
He said: "I’m delighted to announce that we intend to launch Young’s Seafood Limited, the UK’s largest supplier of fish and seafood to retailers and consumers.
"We love fish - that’s why fish is right at the heart of our business – and we will further accelerate growth by drawing on our scale, heritage and leadership in fish and seafood, in close partnership with our retailers.”
Pete Ward, current managing director of The Seafood Company, will become chief operating officer of Young's Seafood while Louise Patterson will become HR director.
Young's Seafood will employ 3,200 people across 13 sites in the UK and continue to maintain Young's major manufacturing operation in Grimsby.
