Kepak Foods wins 'Best frozen product of the year' title

Kepak Convenience Foods (KFC) was awarded the ‘Best ‘Chilled/Frozen Product of the Year’ title for its Rustlers Hot Subs at the Asian Trader Awards. The winners of the annual awards are voted for by readers of Asian Trader.

More than 1,000 guests attended the awards ceremony in London, along with guest of honour, The Rt Hon Theresa May MP, Home Secretary and Minister For Women and Equality.

Judges described Rustlers Hot Subs, a microwavable hot snack, as an ‘outstanding product’. Launched in 2009, the range smashed the £10 million sales barrier in its first 12 months, attracting more than 1.5 million new households to the hot snacking category.

Angela Daulby, Kepak Convenience Foods Convenience Business Unit Controller, and Aoife Kenny, Business Development Director, accepted an engraved glass trophy on behalf of the company.

Angela said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award, and also with the way in which the Asian retail community has embraced the hot snacking category as an incremental profit generator. Their support has been instrumental in Rustlers Hot Subs’ success and in establishing the brand as one of the UK’s top selling hot snacking products in just 12 months.”
