Inventages Venture Capital invests £4m in Tanfield Foods

"Inventages Venture Capital has invested £4m in food manufacturer The Tanfield Food Company. "

Inventages was attracted to Tanfield because it believes the company taps into the growing trend towards lower carbon footprints. The investors also sees the potential for the business’ products to partially replace the chilled and frozen category as well as penetrate into new channels currently not served by cold chain supply.

The new funding will be used to build capacity in the Consett factory unit and provide extra marketing support, particularly for the company's key brand, "Look What We Found!"

The deal represents Inventages' fourth investment in the UK.

Company

Durham-based Tanfield Foods manufactures all natural, allergen-free ready meals, soups and sauces. The company began production five years ago on a site in Consett. The business employs more than 100 people. Its products are currently available in Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Resco, Asda and Morrison's.

People

Erich Sieber represents Inventages on Tanfield’s board. Roger McKechnie is Tanfield’s executive chairman.
