Information influences choices in supermarket

Information influences choices in supermarket

"Eighty-three per cent of respondents to this week’s MarketingWeek.co.uk poll said on-pack food labelling was important to the choices they made at the supermarket."

The latter has been in the spotlight in recent weeks. The Food Standards Agency caused consternation for the food industry earlier this month with its front of pack labelling plans.

The Government watchdog has not plumped for one system so is encouraging the industry to use traffic lights, Guideline Daily Allowances and text, despite branding experts suggesting that this will increase confusion.

There are currently 30,000 products with some sort of front of pack label and the FSA says it expects this to “increase considerably” by the end of the year.
