Haywards pickle firm could be sold in £50m deal

The group, which also owns a service centre in Manchester and Hovis bakery in Trafford Park, is expected to raise as much as £200m through the disposal of some of Britain’s best-known brands.

Premier, the UK’s largest food manufacturer, issued a profit warning last week as it revealed a slump in sales across well-known brands.
Sales volumes had fallen eight per cent in the three months to September 30, Premier said.

The heavily indebted group, which also owns Ambrosia and Bisto, said it would sell off a number of businesses to focus on eight “power brands” in a bid to drive future growth.
