Food firm targets the Indian cookery market
by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk - 31/08/2011
"A FOOD retailer from Leeds is targeting Indian consumers in the UK with a new dairy range designed to appeal to the culinary needs of a typical Asian family."
Leeds-based Arla Foods says its new Savera Indian dairy range will offer the opportunity to families to buy authentic Indian dairy produce in mainstream supermarkets in the United Kingdom.
The products will be available on the store shelves from the end of this month (August).
Arla says that Indian women want to provide authentic dishes for their families but have little time due to work commitments. Now, the firm says, they will be able to get the dishes from the main supermarkets rather than having to travel to specialist shops to pick up the family shopping.
Belinda Parkinson, future creations manager for Arla, said: “Food is integral to the Indian culture and dairy plays quite a large part in this. Quality and authenticity are seen as very important to Indian consumers but due to modern hectic lifestyles they can be difficult to achieve.”
“Research shows that modern Indian women feel torn between their careers and living a modern, western lifestyle, yet they want to stay true to their roots by cooking authentic Indian dishes for their families and these ranges will help".
