EU Clears Lactalis To Buy Ebro Foods' Milk Unitby David Tidmarsh - 24/08/2010 "The European Commission Monday cleared French dairy products corporation Groupe Lactalis to purchase Puleva Foods, the milk product unit of Spanish food company Ebro Foods SA." The EUR630 million deal will give Lactalis, the world's third-largest dairy group, a strong foothold in the Spanish market, while Ebro now hopes to concentrate on growing its packaged meals business. It is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Lactalis, including the Galbani cheese company of Italy, U.S. company Rondele, and the U.K. Lubborn creamery.
