Domino's launches Reggae pizza in UK
by jamaicaobserver.com - 07/04/2011
"PIZZA delivery company Domino's has combined with British-Jamaican Reggae singer Levi Roots to produce a Reggae-themed pizza."
The pizza, which uses Roots' already popular Reggae Reggae Sauce, offers British consumers both chicken and vegetarian versions.
"It's fantastic to be working with Domino's to launch this mouth-watering new pizza," Roots said in a statement. "With Domino's fresh toppings and my Reggae Reggae Sauce, it's a partnership made in the Caribbean. I'm famed for putting music into food and this pizza will really bring out the reggae reggae in you."
Roots — a musician and now a celebrity and TV personality — became a household name in the UK after he appeared on the BBC business reality show Dragons' Den in 2007, where he performed a song to promote his product.
Born Keith Valentine Graham in Clarendon, Jamaica, Roots says that he refined the sauce based upon a family recipe, which he sold each year at the Notting Hill Carnival in London.
However, it was his appearance on BBC television which finally enabled him to gain the necessary support and investment for his product to be placed on the shelves of leading British supermarkets.
