Cadbury set to launch cafe chain
by news.caterer.com - 13/04/2010
"One of the UK's most well-known chocolate makers is set to start a new project which could give a boost to catering jobs, after it unveiled plans to open a chain of cafes.
"
Cadbury got the all clear from its new owner, Kraft Foods, for the Cadbury Cocoa Houses concept, which was first tabled a month before the American company took control at the confectionary giant.
Chocolate expert Angus Kennedy, editor of Kennedy's Confection magazine, told the Sun: "This is a very shrewd PR stunt to get chocolate buyers back on side. By taking Cadbury back to its roots, it will rebrand the company and get rid of the 'American' feel."
The company will open its first cafe in London and there are a reported 60 more establishments planned for around the UK.
A new community cafe has been given the green light in Edinburgh, according to Guardian blogger Tim Allan, who said that the establishment will replace several of the cafes that have closed down over recent years.
