Benson Group goes nut-free for cake pack contract

"Benson Group has won the contract to produce the packaging for a range of nut-free celebration cakes in the UK."

Benson Group will manufacture the packs at its headquarters in Bardon, Leicestershire for Welsh cake manufacturer The Just Love Food Company.

The cakes will be sold across 200 Sainsbury's stores from this month.

"We have searched the breadth of the UK to find suppliers who meet our requirements and acknowledge our nut free promise," said The Just Love Food Company managing director Mike Woods.

"The Benson Group has great credentials in the food manufacturing industry and we look forward to working closely with them to bring our nut-safe celebration cakes to market."

Woods originally created the cakes following his experience of sourcing nut-free cakes for his children, who both have allergies.

Benson Group has annual sales in excess of £93m with food manufacturing sites in Bardon, Newcastle and Gateshead and medical packaging company Medica in Crewe.
