Annan seafood factory in line for top award

"Young’s Seafood Limited was shortlisted for the category of Seafood Manufacturer of the Year, in recognition of the business’ manufacturing excellence (Manex) initiative at their processing site in Port Street, Annan."
STAFF at an Annan processing factory were waiting to hear if they had won a top food manufacturing award last night.
Young’s Seafood Limited was shortlisted for the category of Seafood Manufacturer of the Year, in recognition of the business’ manufacturing excellence (Manex) initiative at their processing site in Port Street, Annan.
This year’s prestigious Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards ceremony was held last night at The Park Plaza Riverbank, London, and were presented by comedian Hugh Dennis.
Rory Fergusson, operations manager at the Young’s Port Street site said: “We’re delighted that the team’s passion and determination over the past few years has been recognised by leading players in our industry.
“In Annan, Manex is delivering growth by targeting continuous improvement and the pursuit of zero waste, as well through involving and engaging all employees in the business.
“Our staff should be justifiably proud of their efforts so far, and we’re all hoping that we can win this award for everyone involved with the Annan site.”
The short-listing success comes just a couple of weeks after staff at Young’s were presented with a bronze award for Healthy Working Lives as part of an NHS programme to encourage healthy living at work.
