13 jobs saved in food company takeover

"THE takeover of a collapsed food firm has saved 13 jobs."

Quality Cuisine South West Ltd, based in Kingsteignton, has been bought by Paignton food distributor Caterfood Holdings after it went into administration on February 24.

The food production company, which produces luxury handmade savouries, was forced to make all its staff redundant.

But now it is business as usual after Caterfood Holdings bought the business and re-employed all of the company's staff.

Mark Felton (right), managing Director of Caterfood, said he was pleased about the addition to Caterfood's growing portfolio.

He said: "At a time when so many companies are struggling and face ever-increasing pressures, Caterfood is bucking the trend and is going from strength to strength.

"We are very excited about taking Quality Cuisine forward and expanding the value and range of products they offer to customers."

The acquisition is the second the company has made in the last two years.

It bought Yarde Farm in August 2008.

Mr Felton said: "With our expertise of the food industry and our extensive distribution network, we hope to make Quality Cuisine a stronger, more stable company for the future."

Colin Liddy, managing Director of Quality Cuisine, said: "It is with great pleasure that Quality Cuisine is now in the new ownership of Caterfood and as of March 8, it was back to business as usual."

He added: "We would like to thank all the staff who have been re-employed for their support through what has been a difficult period."

The collapse of Quality Cuisine stunned workers. Finance firm Deloitte had been appointed to handle the company's affairs.
