13 jobs saved at Newton Abbot food company

"13 jobs have been saved after the acquisition of a Newton Abbot company by one of the largest independent food distributors."

Caterfood Holdings, based in Paignton, South Devon, has purchased Quality Cuisine South West Ltd, Rydons Industrial - who went into administration on February 24.

The food production company, who produce luxury handmade savouries, was forced to make all 13 staff redundant.

But Caterfood are delighted to announce that on acquiring the business on March 6th, they re-employed all of the company’s staff.

Managing director of Caterfood, Mark Felton, said he was excited about the addition of Quality Cuisine to Caterfood’s growing portfolio.

He said: “At a time when so many companies are struggling and face ever-increasing pressures, Caterfood is bucking the trend and is going from strength to strength.

“The acquisition of Quality Cuisine is the second we have made in the last two years, after we purchased Yarde Farm in August 2008.

“We are very excited about taking Quality Cuisine forward and expanding the value and range of products they offer to customers.”

He added: “With our expertise of the food industry and our extensive distribution network, we hope to make Quality Cuisine a stronger, more stable company for the future.”

Managing director of Quality Cuisine, Colin Liddy said: “It is with great pleasure that Quality Cuisine is now in the new ownership of Caterfood and as of March 8, it was back to business as usual.

“We would like to thank all the staff who have been re-employed for their support through what has been a difficult period.”
